Happy Sunday! I spent yesterday afternoon catching up with one of my closest friends as we kayaked and this morning I had chocolate chip pancakes so I’d say I’ve had a pretty good weekend. I hope you’re having a nice weekend, too!
- Australia is in the midst of devasting wildfires. Australia’s fire season started unusually early this year. However, this is not surprising since the country had its hottest summer on record last year and experienced a warm and dry winter. Scientists have been predicting that extreme weather events like this will become more and more common as the climate crisis worsens.
- I really like this opinion piece in Harper Bazaar titled “Anti-Vegetarianism Is Sexism in Disguise.” It’s from last year but I recently came across it again and decided to re-read it. I think there is a lot of truth to the author’s statements.
- November 15th was America Recycles Day which is meant to be a positive initiative to encourage Americans to recycle. However, this initiative is “backed by large companies that produce vast quantities of plastic products that end up as pollution.” Do you think such companies should be responsible for the plastic pollution they create?
- Could vertical farms be agriculture’s future? Vertical farms use no soil, 90% less water, and a lot less space than a typical farm. They could be a great option for growing food within cities.
- Are you starting to plan your Thanksgiving menu? Check out this blog post from World of Vegan on “How to Host an Epic Vegan Thanksgiving.” Michelle rounded up some vegan recipes and some ideas on how to make the holiday extra special.
- I want to end this week’s Weekend Roundup with a clip from the CMA Awards, which were last Wednesday. Kacey Musgraves is one of my absolute favorite artists and she performed “Rainbow Connection” with Willie Nelson. I thought it was a really sweet performance and Kacey’s voice sounds beautiful.
