The 5th annual SEED Food & Wine Week, one of the best vegan festivals in the country, is sadly over. If you haven’t heard of the SEED Festival before, it’s a 5-day plant-based food and wine festival in Miami, FL, with over 10 events. The biggest event is the SEED Festival Day Tasting Village where attendees can sample delicious vegan food, listen to speakers, watch cooking demos, shop from conscious brands, and hang out with like-minded people.
This was my second year attending the Tasting Village; I went last year and loved it so much that I knew I’d be back again this year. If you’re vegan or veg-curious, I’d highly recommend going to the Tasting Village or to any of the SEED Food & Wine events next year if you can. You won’t be disappointed. Below are some highlights from this year’s Tasting Village.
Highlights
Cauliflower Tots from Planta
Planta is a local restaurant in Miami Beach that is very popular. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for months but haven’t had a chance to go yet. Now I’m determined to eat at Planta soon because these cauliflower tots they were sampling were incredible. They reminded me of mozzarella sticks. Planta’s booth had a long line throughout the day, which is no surprise since they were handing out one of the most delicious items at the festival.
Croissants from L’Artisane Creative Bakery
I’ve been to L’Artisane’s bakery in Miami Beach a few times and, let me tell you, they have the most perfect vegan croissants. They are buttery and flaky and just like the real thing. Back in April, L’Artisane won Miami’s Best Croissant competition and this was not a vegan competition, mind you; they were competing against non-vegan croissants and took home the grand prize. At the festival, L’Artisane was giving out mini croissants to sample and my mouth is watering just thinking about them while writing this. L’Artisane is a must if you’re in Miami.
Passion Fruit Flan from Plant Miami
Plant Miami is another restaurant I’ve been wanting to try for a while now. At their booth, they were giving away samples of their passion fruit flan. It had a nice citrus flavor and was the consistency of regular flan, which I’ve heard is hard to achieve. Also, how pretty does it look decorated with a slice of star fruit and edible flowers?!
Ice Cream from NadaMoo!
I had never tried NadaMoo ice cream before but I’ve always heard good things about this vegan brand. At the SEED festival, NadaMoo was giving out samples of their chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream (my favorite flavor of ice cream, how did they know 😉 ). It was delicious, as I had anticipated, and oh so creamy. It just goes to show that you don’t need cow’s milk to make ice cream. I snagged several coupons from their booth so I’ll definitely be buying some of their pints soon.
Cupcakes from Bettersweet Bites
I hadn’t heard of Bettersweet Bites before when I came across their booth at the SEED festival. So many new vegan restaurants and bakeries are popping up in South Florida that it’s hard to keep track of them all, which is a good thing. I found out that Bettersweet Bites is a local vegan and gluten-free bakery here in Miami. I was initially drawn to their booth because of their setup; it was definitely the cutest booth at the festival (look at those unicorn and reindeer cakes!). Bettersweet was giving out bite-size cupcakes to try. I don’t remember what flavor the cupcakes were but they were really good. I’m going to have to check out their bakery soon.
Hot Dogs from Field Roast
I love Field Roast! Their Chao Cheese is my favorite vegan cheese I’ve tried so far. At the festival, Field Roast was giving out samples of their hot dogs. To be honest, I have never liked hot dogs so I didn’t really care to eat a vegan version of one. My dad, on the other hand, went back to the Field Roast booth about 5 times throughout the day to get more samples so I know their hot dogs are good. If you want some good meat and cheese substitutes, I’d check out Field Roast.
Well, that’s all for my recap. I hope you enjoyed reading about some of my highlights from the Tasting Village.
With Lots of Love,
Victoria
