December was hands down the best month of 2018 for me. I traveled to Kauai with a friend, spent time with family, celebrated the holidays, and, overall, had a really great month. This monthly favorites post is going to be a bit shorter than my last two because I didn’t try many new products this month. However, I still wanted to share what I did love in December. Keep reading to find out.
Trip: Kauai
My trip to Kauai is one of the best trips I have ever been on. I hadn’t even thought about going in 2018 until a friend I made through a Facebook group made a post last summer about wanting to go to Kauai once she was done with her fall semester. When I saw that post, I had a good intuitive feeling about going. I had been wanting to travel more but wasn’t quite ready to travel solo yet so this would be the perfect opportunity. I commented that I was definitely interested and we eventually made plans to go. I’m so grateful she made that Facebook post and I’m also proud of myself for having had the courage to go through with it.
Once we finally made it to Kauai, it all felt like a dream come true. The island is beautiful and vibrant and the views just never get old. Not only is the scenery stunning but what makes Kauai even more wonderful are the people who live there. I really enjoyed exploring the small towns on the island and chatting with locals. Kauai is such a special place and I will be forever grateful that I was able to visit this magical island. If Kauai is not already on your bucket list, it should be.
P.S. There will be an entire blog post recapping my trip to Kauai soon.
Food: Acai Bowl from Kalalea Juice Hale in Kauai
I don’t know what Kalalea Juice Hale puts in their acai bowls but they are damn good!!! Honestly, this was the best acai bowl I have ever had in my life. It was creamy and thick and the granola on top was peanut butter flavored. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. My only wish is that my friend and I had visited the Kalalea Juice Hale sooner in our trip so we could have gone back a second or third time.
Movie: Mary Poppins Returns
I was so excited for Mary Poppins Returns to come out! Not only do I adore Emily Blunt and Lin Manuel Miranda but I knew after watching the trailer that I would love it. I had also listened to the soundtrack a few times prior to seeing the film which made me even more excited.
When I saw Mary Poppins Returns in theaters, I was smiling from ear to ear the entire movie, except for the sad bits which made me teary-eyed. I loved the story, the nods to the original film, and Dick Van Dyke’s cameo. Emily Blunt was just perfect for the role of Mary Poppins and the actors who played the Banks children were adorable and did a wonderful job. It’s a heartwarming movie that everyone should try to go see.
That’s all for my December favorites. I told you it would be short. Do you have any favorites from the month of December? Let me know down below.
