Hi there! It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog post and that is because February was a very busy, and short, month. I started a plant-based nutrition course through
Shoes: Rothy’s Flats
I first learned of the brand Rothy’s from a few bloggers I follow on Instagram. What initially drew me to this company was that their shoes are vegan and made from 100% post-consumer plastic water bottles. According to their website, Rothy’s has repurposed 25,653,542 water bottles at the time I am writing this. Not only are the shoes sustainable but the packaging is, too; the shoe boxes are biodegradable and are made from 85% post-consumer recycled materials.
I had been needing a new pair of black flats for work and thought Rothy’s flats looked really cute in addition to being sustainable. I’m always apprehensive buying shoes online because sizing varies from company to company but luckily Rothy’s is true to size; I went with my standard shoe size of 7.5 and my flats fit perfectly. One thing I do want to mention is that the company states that their shoes do not require a break-in period, which is true, but my right shoe did rub my
Podcast: Life Chats with Liv B
One of my favorite YouTubers, Liv B, started a podcast called Life Chats with Liv B and it is my new favorite podcast. I have been watching Liv’s YouTube videos for about 2 years now and have always loved her content. She has the best recipe videos and really deserves her own vegan cooking show. When I found out she started a podcast, I wanted to support her on that platform, too. I have really enjoyed the episodes so far and Liv has a very soothing voice that is perfect for a podcast host. One thing I really appreciate is that the episodes are short as far as podcasts go; all but one are under 30 minutes. So many podcasts do
Documentary: Meru
I’ve recently become intrigued by rock climbing and mountaineering and learned of the documentary Meru. This documentary is directed by Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, the same couple who directed Free Solo which I have been wanting to see. Meru follows the journey of three elite climbers as they attempt to summit Shark’s Fin on Mount Meru in the Himalayas. This climb is said to be harder than climbing Everest and experienced climbers had been trying and failing to climb this peak for over 30 years. Watching Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin, and Renan Ozturk work together to achieve their dream and seeing all the hurdles they had to overcome was incredibly inspiring. This documentary will have you on the edge of your seat in anticipation of their success. Meru is currently on
Trip: Surprise Birthday Trip to Universal Studios
For my birthday this year, my family surprised me with a trip to Universal in Orlando. I think my dad had overheard me tell a friend at work that I wanted to go to Universal, mainly to go on the Harry Potter rides, so my parents decided to make it happen with the help of my brother and sister-in-law. My birthday is January 31st so the five of us went to Universal on the first weekend of February. We went to both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure and had so much fun going on the rides. I’m really grateful for my family for making my 25th birthday extra special.
I hope you all had a love-filled February! Did you have any favorites this month? Let me know below!
With love,
Victoria
