Happy Friday! I am so glad the weekend is finally here and that next week will be a short work week. Since I’m new at this blogging thing, I wanted to share some facts about myself so you all can get to know me better. Below are 10 facts about me, some you might already know and some you might not. I also want to get to know YOU so leave an interesting fact about yourself in the comments.
1. I have 2 cats, Savannah and Loki.
Savannah is a beautiful gray tabby and is almost 4 years old. My family and I rescued her in June of 2015 from my Dad’s office. We weren’t planning on adopting another cat but, in June of this year, one of my co-workers heard a kitten crying in my work’s parking lot and that’s how I ended up with Loki. My parents and I originally planned on fostering him so he could be adopted but we ended up falling in love with him. Now he’s part of the family. Savannah’s not too happy about having a little brother, though.
2. I am obsessed with the moon and outer space.
I’m the type of person who always notices the moon when it’s visible in the night sky and I get excited about full moons. I love learning about astronomy and I enjoy stargazing regularly. It makes you realize how small you and your problems are in comparison to the universe.
3. I have a pretty long bucket list and some of the countries at the top of my list are Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Spain, Iceland, Australia, and England.
I have had a serious case of wanderlust the last few years and I want to travel just about everywhere. I love going on adventures, exploring new places, and experiencing other cultures. I think it’s important to see the world and see how other people live.
4. My all-time favorite movie is Forest Gump.
I adore this movie. I watched it a bunch as a kid because it was always on TV and my parents love it, too. I’ve probably seen it at least 50 times. Some of my other favorite movies are Pride and Prejudice (the 2005 version), Hidden Figures, The Impossible, The Theory of Everything, The Notebook, and Legally Blonde.
5. I am an Aquarius sun, Libra moon, and Sagittarius rising.
Anyone else into astrology? I don’t believe in astrology wholeheartedly but I am intrigued by it and, I must say, my signs fit me really well. Most people know their sun sign but you also have a moon sign, a rising sign, and more that are determined by the date, time, and place you were born. If you want to know all of your signs, you can click here to calculate your birth chart (also called a natal chart).
6. My favorite genre of music is indie folk.
I’ll listen to just about anything but I’d say 75% of the time I listen to folk/indie/alternative music. I love music that is more acoustic and songs that have meaningful lyrics. Some of my favorite artists/groups are Vance Joy, The Lumineers, The Head and the Heart, Hollow Coves, Seafret, and The National Parks.
7. I played soccer for 10 years.
I played soccer from the time I was 4 years old up until I was 14. There was no way I could do cross country, track, and soccer in high school so I chose to give up soccer and pursue running. Now, I miss playing soccer so much; it was my whole childhood and I have so many great memories from the different teams I played on.
8. I was a really picky eater as a kid (and still kind of am).
I was not adventurous at all when it came to food growing up. I always preferred my food to be really plain and simple and I pretty much ate the same foods all the time. Since going vegan, I have tried so many new foods and have definitely broadened my palate. I’m still pretty picky, though; just less picky than my younger self.
9. I am highly introverted.
I’ve always known I’m an introvert but, a few years ago, I took the test on 16Personalities.com and my introvert score was 92%, which did not surprise me at all. I’m a very quiet person and tend to keep to myself when in large groups. I have to have some time alone each day in order to recharge and collect my thoughts.
10. I prefer mountains over the beach.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the beach. But I have always preferred mountains and forests. Maybe it’s because I’ve lived in Miami my whole life where the beach is only 30 minutes from my house but the nearest mountains are 11 hours away. As a kid, it was always so exciting to go to the mountains in Georgia or North Carolina and have a change of scenery.
I’d love to know a little about you, too! Comment below one or two interesting facts about yourself.
